Rende sovrapponibili i contenuti. Forse dimenticabili.

There is no waste as such when it comes down to it. Why a box? The box is an archive, a place of contents, it is the reordering of what still does not have a preset place, it is the place of what is forgotten, of useless junk, of telling things. Memories of irrational attachment, fragments of a possible future, experiences suspended by reworking, sketches of a unique encyclopaedia jumbled together. The container came into being to make the protected journey of a consumer item possible; valuable, ephemeral, perishable, secret. It makes the contents superimposable. Perhaps even forgettable. At times it declares the quality and the quantity, the duration, the origin, the instructions for use, the fragility. Gifts and defects. The pack travels on this side. Open it up and show it to the public. Do not place more than twelve packs on top of each other. It contains confused ideas. Do not shake further... There is an attention and care in designing today’s containers that is evermore aesthetic. One of the shapes that struck me for its constructive potential was that of fruit & vegetable packaging. It is created exclusively for a problem of transportation and stocking, but its structure becomes the synthesis of a universe of possible readings, both formal and of translated symbols. It has a completeness all of its own, and at the same time it is a mediation of cohabitation with fellow objects, because small constructive details open its form to the fore and after of possible linkage in a modular continuum. Thus “conveived of” in this manner this type of packaging for me becomes an infinite library, an impossible, never definitive archive of the “things of mankind”. rf
